We had a foam mattress and topper, but were still suffering from tight nerves at the shoulders and elbows after waking up, especially after days of more manual work. this greatly relieved tightness and pain. some reviewers noted a smell. it's true, the feathers do have a unique odor at the start. they don't bother my partner, but i've been a bit more sensitive so i couldn't stomach-sleep at the beginning. but it's gotten lighter over time.
